"The adjacent home of erstwhile landowner Pat Cubitt was discovered in more recent years to have several hundred buttons stuffed inside its roof while being rethatched. By all accounts domestic maids had unusually done this while assisting airfield personnel in the building’s capacity as an officers’ mess. Tragically these aeronautically priceless artefacts, like most of Bacton’s veteran hangar, were just thrown away.
